Scorpio's academic specialty is Entrepreneurship, which he has taught for almost two decades.  He taught multiple Entrepreneurship, Business, Marketing, and Economics credit courses. At Mercy, he's taught Social Entrepreneurship and all of the entrepreneurship major classes, including Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Marketing, Entrepreneurial Finance, and New Ventures I & II.  In the past, he has conducted numerous non-credit Entrepreneurship seminars and has taught high school students the NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) curriculum.

 

Scorpio's research is examining Black entrepreneurs that studied and received a degree in entrepreneurship and the impact they provide to Black communities.

In 2022, Scorpio received the Educator Pillar Award from the National Black MBA Association New York Metro Chapter.

In 2022, Scorpio also received the Man of the Year Award from the National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women Club, Inc., New Rochelle, NY Club.

In 2014, Scorpio received the SUNY (State University of New York) Chancellor Award for Excellence in Teaching.
